How do you decide if it is worth the extra cost of a private school education at a Christian school?
Short version If you send your kids to a private Christian school, how do you get yourself comfortable that it is worth the extra cost, compared to a public school.Long version Non Christians need not answer...no offense intended, but you won't have the perspective I'm looking for. I'm mostly looking for other parents who are in a similar situation as us, to find out what they did.Our local small town has two schools a public school and a private Christian school. We really felt a calling to send our kids to the Christian school, and this year we have a part time Kindergartener and a 3rd grader. It costs us $6000 per year total. Next year when our younger boy goes full time to 1st grade, it will cost around $7000 total for the year. We are able to pay for it, but just barely. We have no cushion in our budget at all. Recently we have had a few large bills hit us, and unfortunately, we have no choice but to pay for them with credit cards. All the other parents we have talked to say, " It's okay, God will take care of you...he'll provide you basic needs...you will never regret sending your kids to the Christian school" . But I'm struggling to decide if it is really worth it. Of course, I know " you can't put a price on someone's salvation" . But going to a Christian school doesn't have anything to do with your salvation. Granted, I do believe it will better equip a person to live a Christian life. But how do you put a price on that? How much is too much to spend on that? This decision is tearing us apart. We feel like if we pull them out of the Christian school, we will be depriving our kids of an experience that will benefit them for their whole life. But if we keep them in the Christian school, then we will continue to drown in money problems. One more thing...the local public school is very good. Really the only difference is that they don't get the Christian perspective on anything from the public school. We do what we can to model the Christian life and teach our kids about God and Jesus at home, and at our local church. But we often feel inadequate...that we aren't able to do enough to teach our kids what they ought to know. Oh, and we have already tried a year of home schooling, and that was just so extremely stressful for my wife. We don't think we want to go back to that again. Please, please, if you have struggled with this same issue, I'd like to hear what choice you made, and why.
Is this Bible quote basically calling for the abolishing of private property and adoption of communism?
" All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need." Acts 4 32 35 NIVPeople who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. NIV, 1 Timothy 6 9 11 No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. " Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. NIV, Matthew 6 24 25, 31 33 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19 24 Mountain ManWow, your ignorance is beyond ignorance. Republicanism is a form of government, democracy is a political system, and communism is an economic system. What does communism have to do with democracy, or republicanism. They are different areas of government. Trish, you just said the Torah advocates communion. LOL DUMB DUMBDUMB DUMBlol
Is it ok if I stone my son in private or do I have to go to the town elders?
Deuteronomy 21 18?Idotheseer matt 5 17 17" Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
My mom invited herself to my parent-in-law's friend's private event.?
Tomorrow night we are going to mother and father in law's friend's book signing. It is a private event, not public. I told my mom about this, and she now wants to come along. She and my parent in laws get along great, and whenever there is a birthday party, all families come together. But she doesn't really know their friend who is having his book signing . Husband and I have been together for 10 years, so yes, she has known him for that long, but she only sees him and all of his other friends there is a group of them on special occassions, which usually involves either my mother in law or father in law, so of course she would be invited then. She wants to come b c she is recently divorced and is lonely and also and this is the major reason wants to talk to him about what he had to do to get his book published she is also writing a book .She kind of invited herself...at first thinking this is a public signing, but after I spoke w my mother in law and found out it's private, I told her this, but she still wants to come. My mother in law said that she is more than welcome to come b c " she is family" . But I don't see it that way b c she is not family w this gentleman..I mean, they don't even talk whenever their is an event going on.Does this make sense?I can't tell her not to come b c it would make her feel really bad and I'm 8 mo. pregnant and don't want to upset or " rock the boat" . I just feel like if she comes which she is planning on , people will look at her and say to themselves " why is she here" ? Am I being too overly emotional? I don't want her to embarrass herself. Don't get me wrong, my mom is a very classy lady, so she will handle herself w grace, but she doesn't even TALK to him, why would she come?

Why do people talk about race much differently in private conversation than in public?
For example a white guy a couple of days ago told me that he wouldn't date a white girl if she had dated a black guy before. You would never hear this in public, but I'm sure a lot of people feel this way.
Why do people keep their 'private parts' private?

What's stopping some violent billionaire in the Middle East from crashing his own private plane into the U.S.?
I know that it's basically impossible to do nowadays with a commercial airplane because of increased airport security. But what about airplanes that do not go through airport security? There are some airplanes that are privately owned by really rich people and can be flown by them any time they want. And there are tons of billionaires in the Middle East from owning oil and other valuables. I'd bet a sizable portion of them are devout Muslims who do not condemn 9 11. If that's the case, couldn't they hire other people or even do it themselves if they wanted to crash a plane into a building? I honestly don't see anything stopping them, since apparently it's condoned in the Middle East.
